Page 1 of 3 Pages All Guns Blazing! Newsletter of the Naval Wargames Society No. 177 – November 2008 Editorial Not much in the way of news from me this month, other than to say that my long-standing project, building my wargames room, is nearing completion. The permanent table / storage unit is complete, now all I have to finish is the work bench, and gaming plus modelling can recommence! Contributions to AGB are always welcome. “Soft copy” input via email is the preferred method of submission as it cuts down the time taken to get your piece into the newsletter considerably! Yours aye, DM david.manley@btinternet.com NWS on board HMS BELFAST The annual Christmas event on board HMS BELFAST will be running again this year. I am informed by Simon Stokes that the theme this time around will be Convoy JW51B, with some interesting new rules in play, and 1/600 models on the table (or should that be the deck?). More details next month, but in the meantime if anyone has a burning desire to volunteer, or to know more, please don’t hesitate to email either myself or Simon. 1/3000 WW2 collection for sale Naval wargamer Calum White has a large collection of 1/3000 WW2 warships that need a good home, His collection includes: • British and Commonwealth-19 carriers,20 battleships,3 battlecruisers,2 monitors,44 cruisers,66 destroyers,6 frigates,6 corvettes,3 sloops,3 minelayers,4 minesweepers, 19 subs, 2 gunboats,16 coastal craft,1 LSI,5 tankers, 2 depot ships,4 trawlers,14 merchants. • US-21 carriers,26 battleships,2 battlecruisers,34 cruisers,1 seaplane tender,60destroyers,11 subs,4APDs,1 command ship, 1 attack transport,2 LSDs, 2LSTs,1 attack cargo ship,2 oilers,1 depot ship,10merchants. • Japan-20 carriers,8 battleships,4 battlecruisers,34 cruisers,2 seaplane carriers,64 destroyers,2 escorts,8 torpedo boats,1 minelayer, 22 subs,2 transports,3 landing ships,4oilers,1 depot ship,1 repair ship, 1AMC. • German-1 carrier,4 battleships,13 cruisers,35 destroyers,3 escorts,12 torpedo boats,3 minesweepers,9 subs,9 Sboats,3 tankers,6 trawlers,2 merchants. • French-2 carriers,9 battleships,19cruisers,1 seaplane carrier,41 destroyers,8 escorts,4 torpedo boats,8 subs,1 liner. • Italian-2 carriers,8 battleships,23 cruisers,41 destroyers,12 torpedo boats,6 corvettes,8 subs, 8 coastal craft. • Dutch-1 battlecruiser,5 cruisers,9 destroyers,4 subs, 2 tankers. • Polish-5 destroyers,1 minelayer, 6 minesweepers, 6 subs.

Created by the Award Winning Developers, Norm Koger & Jim Rose, JUTLAND breaks new ground yet again! Building on the technical success of DISTANT GUNS, the 3rd Generation render engine installment of JUTLAND dramatically expands the boundaries of 20th Century Naval Warfare in all Directions! JUTLAND pushes the envelope of the real time 3D military simulations with the most realistic ballistics ever created in a commercial war-game. Every shell fired is physically introduced into the 3D Battle-Space, where it follows a true-to-life trajectory all the way to the target. If the shell actually hits the target in the 3D world, it must then penetrate the armor of the ship's hull, deck, or turret based on the thickness at the impact point. Storm Eagle Studios has created an unprecedented 3D naval game environment, featuring hundreds of highly detailed, historically accurate 3D WWI Battleships, Cruisers, Destroyers, and Torpedo Boats from the countries of Germany, England, and France. JUTLAND is destined to become the new standard for 3D Real time Naval Gaming! JUTLAND packs all of the essential features you would expect from Norm Koger & Jim Rose, the team that brought you Award Winning games since 1988 including The Age of Rifles, West Front, Age of Sail, and The Operational Art of War, just to name a few!
